Programme Coordinator, Kidz Support Den
Sarah started working with Sólás in November 2013 after moving to Belfast in September from the Republic of Ireland. She is a qualified Primary School Teacher. During her Bachelor’s degree in Education, she completed her dissertation on Asperger Syndrome. After graduating, she taught for two years in Dublin as a learning support teacher for Special Needs and for the previous three years she taught in a rural primary school in West Cork. She has a wide range of experience working with children of different ages, with a particular interest in the area of special needs. In addition to her position at Sólás, she also works part-time as a Special Needs Classroom Assistant and provide one-to-one home support tuition.
Sarah is the co-ordinator for the Kidz Support Den. The Den operates as an early intervention support initiative. It provides weekly one-to-one support to primary school-aged children with an additional educational need that is not being met through statutory provision.
