Joan Henderson (PHD, MBA, BEng, PGCE)

Managing Director of Sólás and Programme Co-Ordinator, ‘Champ Youth’

 

Joan has over 23 years of management and teaching experience across a range of industries including engineering, education, consultancy and community & voluntary sectors. Following a maternity leave from her role as lecturer at the School of Management at Queen’s University Belfast in 2008, Joan decided to pursue a personal passion relating to supporting children and young people with special needs.

 

Joan was one of a small group of people who founded the Sólás charity in 2009, to provide services and support to children with additional needs across two key areas, including; educational support and social / emotional support.

 

Joan’s role at Sólás is to provide leadership and support. She is also responsible for the Champ Youth programme which currently runs every Friday evening for youth aged 11 to 16 with autism.
