After-school club
What is After-school Club?
After School Club is one of our social development programmes for primary age children diagnosed with autism, who have language and intellectual difficulties.

Picture Exchange Communication
Around 8 children attend per session. Our activities include arts , one-to-one educational games (learning how to tie my shoes, matching, social cooperation games etc), gardening and sports. We also have regular visitors including Libraries NI, Open Arts, Live NI, wildlife sanctuaries and the Cats Protection society.
In 2018 we added our own polytunnel and sensory playground to our site, meaning the children can do gardening and play in the comfort of the Sólás premises.
Why is the programme needed?
The club gives primary-age children with ASD the opportunity to socialise and integrate with their peers outside of school in a safe and supportive environment. It also provides parents with a few hours respite for an afternoon or two per week.
When do we run the programme?
The programme runs five afternoons each week during term time. This programme does not run during July/August. Instead we run a Summer Scheme for children with Autism.
Where is it located?
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1.30 - 4.30pm at Donegall Pass Community Centre &
Monday to Friday 2.45 - 5.45pm at our premises at 284a Ormeau Road, Belfast and Rosario centre, Ormeau road.
